This page explains what data I handle when you use Illan or request an invite, what I use it for, and who receives it. In short: your meditations stay yours. I don't publish them or use them for anything else.

What data do I handle?

  • When you request an invite: your email address, the role that describes you best, the topics you tick, and anything you write in the free-text field.
  • When you sign in: your name, email address and profile picture URL from your Google account.
  • Your meditations: the title, description, text, chosen voice and music, and volume settings.
  • Audio files: the narration generated from your text and any music you upload. If you add music from a link, I only store the link and the track title, not the audio.
  • Usage data: which pages you open and a few events (such as an MP3 download), linked to your account.
  • Error data: technical details when something goes wrong.

What do I use it for?

I don't publish, sell or reuse the text of your meditations for any other purpose. Illan's admin interface does not show your meditations. Technically, only I can access the database, for maintenance or debugging.

  • To send invites and run the trial.
  • To make Illan work: to save, narrate and play your meditations.
  • To see what works and what doesn't, and to fix errors.

Who receives the data?

Illan relies on a few external providers. Each receives only the data it needs for its job:

  • Google Gemini API: receives the text of your meditation to generate the narration. Illan uses the paid tier of the Gemini API; under its terms, Google does not use the submitted text to improve its products. It may log it for a limited time to detect abuse.
  • Neon (Postgres database, Frankfurt, EU): stores account data, meditations and invite requests.
  • Vercel: runs the application and stores audio files. Audio files are available at unlisted, unguessable addresses. If two users generate the exact same sentence with the same voice, the narration is stored once.
  • Google: for sign-in (Google account).
  • Resend: to send emails (such as your invite).
  • PostHog (EU): to measure usage. No screen recordings are made.
  • Sentry: to track errors.
  • Stripe: if you pay, Stripe handles your card details; they never reach me.
  • Cloudflare: for domain name resolution. It does not see your content.

How long do I keep it?

For as long as your account exists, or until you ask me to delete it. You can delete a meditation in the app at any time. I keep your invite request until the end of the trial, or until you ask me to delete it.

How to request deletion

Email hello@illan.io from the address you sign in with or used for your invite request. I'll delete your account, your meditations, your uploaded audio and audio files that belong only to you, and your invite request, and reply to confirm. You can also ask for a copy of your data or for it to be corrected.
